III. Childcare
The following rules are in effect for people who are assisting with or given charge of the children:
-
You are responsible for enforcing the house rules in the parents' absence.
-
Do not leave the children unattended, except in designated childproofed areas with active remote monitoring. Childproof areas include:
- Cribs (each child in their respective crib)
- Playpen (Jimbo only)
-
Adhere to the children's established routines.
-
Do not take the children anywhere without explicit permission from a parent.
-
If the parents are present, do not feed or medicate the children without explicit permission. If the parents have given you charge of the child in their absence, only feed or medicate the child pre-approved substances according to the parents' guidance, unless an exception is granted by a parent.
-
Do not expose the children to their respective allergens.
-
If you are given permission to leave the house, you must have an EpiPen accessible at all times.
-
Encourage the children to play with their own toys. If they attempt to play with household objects, gently confiscate them. Do not offer household objects or anything else that may not be child-safe for the children to play with.
-
If a child misbehaves, remove them from the situation and take steps to prevent the misbehaviour again, but do not punish the children. Discipline is the parents' responsibility only.
-
Cosleeping is not permitted after an infant is old enough to roll over unassisted. Cosleeping with an infant is only permitted if all of the following safety precautions are satisfied:
- The infant is not in contact with and could not manouevre themself into contact with a pillow, blanket, loose-fitting sheet, or plush toy.
- The infant is contained by a lounger or cosleeper-cushion.
- All open sides of the bed must be blocked.
-
Contact the parents to report any injuries, allergy exposures, or deviations from established routines as soon as the situation is in-control.
