Rules of Thumb","text":"
The following guidelines capture the essence of the philosophy that underpins many of the rules we enumerate later in this document.

Every rule is subject to exceptions, but only if they are granted unanimously by both Codi and Jim.

Abide by the Four Agreements:

(a) Be impeccable with your word: Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others.

(b) Do not take anything personally: Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won\u2019t be the victim of needless suffering.

(c) Do not make assumptions: Find the courage to ask questions and express what you really want. Communicate as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings and drama.

(d) Always do your best: Your best is going to change from moment to moment. It will be different when you're healthy versus sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.

Treat all residents and other houseguests with kindness, compassion, and respect. If you have a problem with someone in our community, leave it at the doorstep.

Do not undermine parenting decisions made by Codi and Jim.

Set good examples for the children.

Do not challenge these guidelines. We have taken great caution to err on the side of permissivity; this document sets forth a minimal set of guidelines for preserving the harmony of our household.

"},{"location":"#c-revision-of-this-document","title":"\u00a7C.
